October and November are busy months for the firm, as we head out on the road attending higher education conferences around the country. It’s a fun time, too – visiting with old friends and meeting new people in the field.

This Fall we flew coast to coast – with a few stops in between – learning about challenges higher education professionals are facing and listening to their stories. We heard about some successes – and some opportunities to improve. All of it is great information as it helps us fully consider the landscape we are working in, how to make it better, and share our thinking with a broader audience.

Our Chief Strategist, Guy Felder, spoke at several conferences hosted by UPCEA (University Professional and Continuing Education Association) in Long Beach, Savannah, and Denver.

At UPCEA West, we had a fantastic time catching up with clients. We hosted a reception aboard the historic Queen Mary, an iconic 1936 ocean liner moored right at Long Beach and enjoyed a beautiful night out on the deck.

At the UPCEA Marketing and Enrollment Management Seminar (MEMS), Guy and Dan Bellone, Marketing Director, University Extension, CSUEB gave an overview of our work to-date in a presentation: "Becoming an Experience-Driven Organization."

They were joined by Diane Burkett, Director of Marketing for the University of Houston who shared her perspective as having recently completed the Discovery and entered the Design phase with us. Guy, Dan, and Diane spoke to a packed room.

It was a thrill to see excitement build around the idea of putting the student customer first at an institution. It was an even bigger thrill to receive two awards for it!

During the awards ceremony, our work with CSUEB was honored with Silver designations in two categories: Interactive Media: Website and Most Improved.

We ended our season on such a wonderful high note – and I’m already looking forward to the next one. Here we come San Diego: the UPCEA 2016 Annual Conference will be held April 7-9 at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront.

See you there!
